2025 Festival Report

September weather can be somewhat variable, and it was looking as though we would be severely disrupted this year. In the event we were able to fish on the Tuesday with skippers Phil Curtis (Typhoon) and Patrick Davis (Poseidon), although the high winds of the previous days had left a residual swell which made conditions less than ideal. Wednesday saw the high winds return and force us to remain onshore and as the forecast for Thursday showed south westerly winds gusting to force 6 that too was called off. Conditions had improved by Friday, which was not initially going to be part of the Festival as we had limited the event to 5 days, but we were able to fish with Patrick on Poseidon, Dave on Black Pearl II and Phil on Storm and so managed a second day, albeit with some restriction on distance.

For all the disruption caused by the weather there were some memorable catches by new joiners Jan Creek and Scott Pullen landing a 5lb 4oz Couches Bream and a 2lb 3oz Red Gurnard respectively, both fish of specimen size. We were able to allocate winners to most of the prize classes, congratulations to Rick Homewood who scooped the coveted Edgar Sealey Challenge Trophy for the highest points score of the Festival.
